If you are late on a payment, you usually have to pay a late fee. Lenders may allow a grace period of 10 or 15 days before they charge a late fee. Typical late fees range from $15 to $30, with some lenders charging 5 percent of your monthly loan amount or $15, whichever is greater. Some personal loan lenders do not have late fees. Even if you have to get the money in a hurry, take some extra time and see which lender in your area or online is the most reliable and/or can offer you the best deal. That way, you can act quickly when you need to while staying confident that you’re getting the best deal available.
Though regulated at the state and federal level, there are still payday lenders that attempt to skirt the rules. Some are online-only lenders based in other countries.
